David Gruber (* 1955)
He graduated in "system engineering" at the Faculty of Economics in 1979. The graduates were intended to be coordinators of interdisciplinary temas with multidisciplinary profile. In the comunist Czechoslovakia, this specialization mustn´t be called "Management" only because of ideological reasons. („Management“ was a prohibited word.) However the content of the specializoation was consistent with management. In his master's thesis, David Gruber focused on psychological subject of system of human needs.
Later, he enriched his education by four-semester postgradual study at the Philospohical Faculty of Palacky University Olomouc. He graduated in 1986. In his final thesis he aimed at mental work ways (techniky duševní práce) and study skills.
We couldn´t separate David Gruber´s CV from the political system in which he was forced to live until his age of 35. That was the totalitarian communist system. Some fact about this system, some of its features are almost unexplainable to a normally thinking free western people. Nevertheless, we try to do it here in a simplified form, which is suitable for our purposes.
David Gruber established a new profession in his country – the free lance lecturer, trainer, advisor, coach. In the period 1986-89, he was the unique in his profession in his country. He was also the unique who ran the short term trainings in his branch. His trainings became famous, he provoked a large public demand. At his home, after work, he made so many new discoveries and inventions as if it were a usual research center with many scientists. He invented it on his very own, he couldn´t follow the western model, because all contacts were strictly prohibited (letter exchange, phoning, travelling, books, lectures by western experts etc.). So, all his inventions were original. In his know-how package, he reinvented much what was already known in the West. However, he also invented a lot of world new knowledge – the new generation of managerial soft skills, transferable skills and personal development skills, the time management of 5th generation etc. The quality, reliability, effectivity and world-new originality of his know-how package was proved many times from the beginning of 90s on, when the comparison of Gruber´s know-how and the world leading experts´ one took place in the Czech Republic. From then on, i. e. during last 20 years, David Gruber beats all the foreign experts in sold books, in demand for trainings and consulting.
In 2002, David Gruber absolved a 3-months certified training at ACE College in Sydney, Australia. The topic was managerial soft skills, communication skills, negotiation, time management etc.
David Gruber lives mainly in the Czech Republic, he runs trainings, he writes books and articles. He became the unbeatable leader in his branch – with more than 900 original trainings he run, with 56 books (over 1 million pieces sold in the country with only 10 million pople), with successful TV educational series (24 sequels altogether).
David Gruber represents a great opportunity, a great challenge:
- for any western university which decides to invite him to keep lectures;
- for each western educational company which decides to engage him, to let him lead trainings of his world new higher generation soft skills;
- for any significat western publishing house which attempts to translate and publish one of his bestsellers and make an appropriate PR in this context;

David Gruber´s native language is Czech. He commands also Polish, Russian, Slovak, German. In the Czech Republic, he leads his courses also in English on advanced level.
